The pastel is first crumbled onto the paper in small amounts, then smoothed across the surface by hand. The mountain areas are made using a dip pen with fine nib, or mechanical pencil.
This image was made shortly after returning from a visit to the slate islands, off of Scotland's west coast. The pools on Easedale are a remnant of industry wiped out overnight, after being flooded during a powerful storm, a reminder of the power of nature in the face of human endeavour.
This piece is sold unframed and will need to be framed with a mount, behind glass (non-reflective recommended) in order to be displayed.
If you have any questions about the work or framing, you are welcome to get in touch.
