About Andrew Phillips
HCPC Registered Psychotherapist
I am an HCPC Registered Psychotherapist offering online therapy to adults across the UK. You can find out more about my psychotherapy practice here.

My path into psychotherapy developed through a combination of personal experience, creative practice, and work within mental health settings. Alongside this, I have maintained a longstanding interest in the relationship between psyche, creativity, and the natural world, as a way to deepen my engagement with the mysteries of life, and the depth of human connection.
Clinical training and approach
I completed an in-depth, three-year MA in Art Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths, University of London (2010–2013). Rooted in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic models, the training placed strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, alongside working with image-making and creative forms of expression as ways of exploring experience.

Since qualifying, my approach has continued to evolve and deepen. While remaining grounded in these foundations, I have drawn increasingly on Jungian, transpersonal, and ecopsychological perspectives, alongside an ongoing engagement with art and culture. This has led to a way of working that is both reflective and exploratory, attentive to meaning, imagination, and the wider contexts in which we live.

Creative practice and therapeutic insight
As a practising visual artist, I continue to explore questions of psyche, image, and meaning through painting and drawing. This ongoing engagement with the creative process informs my work as a therapist in a direct and lived way.

Creativity, in this sense, is not simply a method, but a way of approaching experience — one that can be uncertain, intuitive, and not always easily put into words. It is through this shared territory that I am able to accompany others when working with images, symbols, and the unfolding of meaning within therapy.
