The pastel is first crumbled onto the paper in small amounts, then smoothed across the surface by hand. The mountain areas are made using a dip pen with fine nib, or mechanical pencil.
Azomai is a Greek verb meaning 'to stand in awe, or in fear'. This work explores the experience of the sublime landscape, where mountains and other dramatic forms evoke a sense of wonder, reverence, and being moved beyond oneself.
This piece is sold unframed and will need to be framed with a mount, behind glass (non-reflective recommended) in order to be displayed.
If you have any questions about the work or framing, you are welcome to get in touch.
