Online Art Psychotherapy in the UK.

Updated: 3 days ago

Making a Meaningful Connection at Distance

As an HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist I can work with you wherever you are located in the UK.

The experience of being listened to deeply in Psychotherapy offers many benefits. Something I feel is increasingly important are the unique opportunities that depth-oriented therapy provides for finding clarity in a noisy world, where there can be many demands upon our attention that prevent us from understanding ourselves in healthy and compassionate ways. The regular therapy hour can be thought of as a way of coming back to yourself, an invitation to new ways of meaningful engagement with your life.

Working together online allows you to benefit from the supportive and enriching space for reflection that psychotherapy offers, with a greater level of convenience. A full overview of my practice including the themes and concerns I can help with, can be found on the therapy welcome page.

Some Benefits of Choosing Online Art Psychotherapy

  • Sessions are held using Google Meet, which in my experience has proven straightforward, reliable, and secure. You will not require a Google account to use this feature.

  • You can set up your own 'therapy space',  so you are comfortable and at ease.

  • Time and money are saved on traveling to therapy.

  • It is more likely the therapy will fit conveniently into your schedule.

  • You may feel able to express yourself in greater depth by working from your own environment.

  • You can decide on your own art materials to use during the sessions.

What You'll Need For Online Art Psychotherapy

To create a space where the therapy can thrive, a few things are essential:

  • You’re in a private space, and can be certain that others will not be present or able to overhear.

  • Reliable video connection, with camera on and good visibility—I cannot offer sessions by audio only.

  • Art materials available, and an appropriate surface on which to use them safely near your device.

  • A computer or tablet (mobile phones can feel limiting and are generally not suitable due to the small screen size).

  • A stable head-and-shoulders view, to help us feel present to one another. This helps both of us to communicate effectively, and helps create a sense that we are speaking to one another in a shared space.

  • The session is not to be recorded by either of us.

  • The session must be the sole focus of your attention throughout.

If, after discussion, we find online therapy isn’t the right fit, I can help you consider alternatives.

How does Psychotherapy begin?

To take the next steps towards working together in online art psychotherapy, you can use the contact details at the foot of any page on this website to contact me by email. I would recommending first having a look at the relevant Psychotherapy section of my website to learn about what I can help with, and how the therapeutic process works.

In your message please mention your main reason for considering therapy at this time, but there is no need for personal details. If you would prefer to talk on the phone prior to meeting for an initial consultation, I am happy to offer a brief introductory call free of charge.

Our first meeting is an opportunity to see if the therapy I offer could be appropriate for you, and whether we would be well suited for working together. We will also begin thinking together about;

  • The reasons you are considering Psychotherapy.

  • How you hope therapy will be of benefit to you.

  • Why now? Exploring the significance of this time for choosing to begin therapy.
