The pastel is first crumbled onto the paper in small amounts, then smoothed across the surface by hand. The mountain areas are made using a dip pen with fine nib, and mechanical pencil.
The Unquiet Land explores something of the “skull beneath the skin” of landscape: the hidden presences of Earth, an ever-shifting sentience beneath the seeming stillness and deep time of aged mountains.
This work on paper has been professionally framed by Framed @ M.A.D.E, Cardiff, in a bespoke wooden frame, with a double mount and non-reflective glass.
If you have any questions about the work or framing, you are welcome to get in touch.
About the Artist
Working in mixed-media drawing and painting, my work explores landscape as a language of reverence, imagination, and the numinous, with a particular focus on mountain forms.
I am an elected Professional Member of the Scottish Society of Artists (SSA), and have exhibited widely across the UK, including the Royal Scottish Academy Annual, Royal West of England Academy Annual, Visual Arts Scotland, Scottish Society of Artists exhibitions, and other group and solo shows.
